Student Laptop Programme

Student Laptop Program in bid to fast track the adoption of technology in teaching and learning, the University with the help of the ICT Services department kicked off student laptop program in 2014 and has since provided laptops to all 1st years. This is to say that as of now, all Full-Time undergraduate students have benefited from the laptop program which has boosted confidence and ease of use by the students.

Office 365 Roll-out

The University’s ICT Services department entered into a partnership with Microsoft in bid to provide Microsoft Office software to its staff and students. The roll-out of this essentially means that all students and staff in the university have access to Office 365 products that is Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive and One Note at no cost. Another benefit that comes with this is the fact that with a Strathmore Microsoft Account, one can be able to install the software on FOUR other gadgets totaling to 5 gadgets.

myStrath App

What more can one ask for than to have an application that allows one access what they would access on their laptop at the comfort of their palms? myStrath App seeks to help student be able to access all that is in the Academic Management System by just tapping on an App on their phone. With a single click, one is able to track her or her academic performance, fees statement, course attendance, library services and the class timetable. All this helps one be able to manage their academic life around campus.

Password Self Service Manager

This web application aim at helping both Staff and Students to manage their own account by: - Securely resetting / changing their own password. - Securely getting a new password if one forgets their password. - Unlocking own account if locked out after multiple attempts (Applicable to Staff ONLY).

BYOD Enablement in all Classrooms (46)

BYOD stands for Bring Your Own Device. This Project aimed at helping lecturers and students be able to make presentations from their own devices. This is achieved by creating a plug and play environment which aims at enhancing teaching and learning experience.

Digital TV Screens on all EIGHT Boardrooms

The ICT Service team opted to move from the convention installation of projectors in boardrooms to installing TVs which are more durable and fitting for boardrooms as opposed to large classrooms. The installation of this Digital TVs’ means that one can walk in to any boardroom and be able to use it for projection which reduces the time used to be taken to set a portable projector.

Deployed 150 User PCs’

150 User Desktops were deployed at the beginning of the year to staff members and students (Computer Lab PCs’). This was an upgrade for some of the Old PCs’ that were due for replacement based on the PC replacement policy.

Cafeteria POS

Having tried a couple of off-the-shelf Point of Sale Systems that ended up not completely meeting the user needs, the ICT Services Enterprise Application Team developed the Cafeteria POS from scratch which has since gone to serve the Cafeteria Department well helping them achieve ROI.
